Vendramin History

History

The Vendramin family were of the Venetian patrician class from the 1300s until the 1800s when the last of the main male line, Niccolò Vendramin, died without an heir ("Vendramin," n.d.).

It is suspected that the line of Vendramins on my side originated from one of the Vendramins of this patrician family, due to two facts: 1) the town that Mosé Vendramin came from is one hour from Venice, 2) the Vendramin name is not common. Because the tie cannot be 100% validated, the information on the patrician Vendramins should be read with caution.

What is known for sure is that Mosé Vendramin, son of Arcangelo Vendramin and Angela De Lazzari, immigrated to London, Ontario, Canada from Paese, Treviso, Italy in August of 1954. Little is known about Mosé’s parents.
